Housing  construction steer development at Mhandamahwe  growth point

Stands allocation by Chivi rural district council at  Mhandamhwe has steered development at the growth point as houses extension programme continues.

Construction of houses which began in 1993 has since saw 100 to 150 houses being constructed  as the council  is still pegging the stands on newly opened grounds and some have been pegged  for commercial purposes

“ Chivi rural district council is still giving stands here and the last time I checked around 2010 stands were being given at a price of $1300 but I heard that  the price has since changed.” Said  Reverend Chikuku.

John Hussein one of the contractors said, the extension houses under constructions    have not been completed as they await to be electrified and some have water while others don’t.

“ Water and electricity are not yet available on these ones being constructed as we are waiting  for the council to connect both water and sewer pipes “ he said.

One  of  the residents identified  as  Ruvarashe Mbewe  said the council however  need  to put poles for electricity as buying firewood is expensive and also install the sewer systems as blair toilets unconducive for use
.
“ we need the council to put poles  for us to get electricity as we cannot  afford to buy firewood every day. The council  also need to  hold campaigns to help us clean this area because  our community is dirty  ,people throw  litter everywhere  and we are afraid our babies might get sick from  dirt.
On the issue of toilets, the council need to come and put the sewer system for us we no longer bear using Blair toilets , people have resorted to using the bush” she said.

However  rural district council chairperson Mr killer Zivhu said, Chivi council knows the case of  the  sewer systems at Mhandamahwe   as  it is working  to get  to see  how the pipes  will be installed

“we are aware of the sewer system issues  at Mhandamahwe, a blair toilet is not condusive for any normal human being in the world ,only in Africa as a third alternative. This coming month we are putting everything in place as we already have some of pipes in place” he said

The development of the center which lies  under  a business based environment have  seen the community earning a living  through selling.
