Judiciary's adherence to constitutionalism key safety pillar to society

"The nation should feel protected by the judiciary' adherence to the concept of constitutionalism." 

These were the remarks of Jusice Evangelista Kabasa at the official opening of the Gweru High Court Circuit this week

Addressing stakeholders, Kabasa said, the judiciary comes to ensure that justice prevails amongst citizens.

"The purpose of the judiciary is to ensure justice is done ,not only to victims and their loved ones but to the offenders as well.

"As i cite the deputy chief justice's remarks, those who live in the state of harmony with society must feel protected by the judiciary's adherence to the concept of constitutionalism.

"Even those who are engaged in acts of lawlessness  must feel that the courts when administering the justice they deserve are acting in a  manner that reflects a consciousness of the overarching supreme command of the constitution.

"Accordingly, the judiciary is committed to ensuring that the vision couched in the constitution of a democratic society based on openess,justice ,human diginity ,equality and freedom." She said.
